I can remember when no one wanted to file an extension. It seems that over the years that reluctance has diminished somewhat. Most clients want to get filed on time. I do find that clients for whom I have filed extensions have fairly complex tax returns and need more time. It is just that they wait to the last minute as many files do at the mid-April deadline.
Tax topics and Genealogy to boot. (Enrolled Agents are a hybrid between a CPA and a lawyer. They are very specialized in the area of income taxation. Enrolled Agents are required to pass a written exam and obtain at least 75 hours of continuing education over a three year period. Enrolled agents are allowed to represent clients at all levels of the IRS. Their specific training makes them a wise choice for individual filing.)

Extension Season
I'm getting close to the beginning of the second season of tax preparation. Those who have filed extensions will be on contact very soon.

THETAXBOOK
I recommend the "THETAXBOOK" as a reference source. This upcoming season will mark the fourth season I've used this wonderful reference. It is published by Tax Materials, Inc.
The material is displayed in several sections that are set in tab format. Plus it has some quick references such as tax rate schedules that I find always come in handy.
