We had a slightly white Christmas here in Central Kentucky. It is shaping up into a clear but cold entry into the new year.
Software still says, "Do Not File". My software informs me that the January 18th update should fix any of those year end "fiscal cliff" generated changes. I hope so. I dreaded the thought of having to wait way up into the tax year to file the returns in mid March. That was predicted to happen if the congress had malingered in their resolution of the year end predicament. But so far so good.
I still have one tax return that needs to be taken care of. The client will most likely get a refund.
I have all of my continuing education nailed down for the year plus a little extra. I am surveying what will be offered this spring and will most likely plan an trip around a locale that offers the training that I need.
On a more personal note, my son William is in from San Francisco. He is in for nearly three weeks. He can do that because he is one of the generation that is able to work "remotely" with his Apple laptop. He is self employed and has several clients across the continent. We have had a great time. I will miss him of course when he goes back to the bay area but the education and experience he is gaining out there is fantastic. My wife and I plan to get out there this summer. I might seek some tax training out there but most likely will not. I would prefer the time to be spent with my son (I haven't asked him about it though).
Later,
Russ
