I will try to make regular postings. I promise. Starting today.
Politics in Kentucky. What can I say. I was at the KET debate on Monday, October 25, 2010. I was outside with the Jack Conway people. We were assembled on both sides of the drive leading up to the door of KET where the debate was being held. There was a pretty substantial Rand Paul following. They were lined up in a tighter cluster on the right side of the entrance. On the opposite side of the drive there must have been a stretch of over a hundred feet that was flashing the yellow and blue colors of the Conway campaign. Behind them on a slight rise were several Paul supporters holding large signs and basically being pretty quiet.
The Conway camp was animated. We came from all around central Kentucky, with the Franklin County contingent, of which I was a member, bringing nearly 150 people. The Conway crowd had a cheerleader with a bullhorn. We had several young men beating on empty plastic five gallon buckets with PVC pipe. Some of the chants were witty in a way.
The Paul camp had some cheers and some chants but were pretty docile. That was until Paul's arrival spurned some young lady from Moveon.org to approach him. There was a melee and she was thrown to the ground. Her head was stepped on. The incident was captured on tape and broadcast broadly. The man who stepped on her head was identified and has been charged with assault.
